Gilberto Hernandez

Our beloved Gilberto Hernandez went on to meet his Heavenly Father on November 25, 2023.  Gilberto is survived by his Wife of 61 years, Maria, Son, Carlos, Daughter Virginia, Son In Law, Andrew, and Daughter In Law, Dora.  He is proceeded in death by his Son Gilberto, Jr, Parents, Jose and Margarita, Brother, Joe, and Sisters Martha and Bertha.   Gilberto was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Brother In Law, Uncle to many Nieces and Nephews, and Friend to all those who knew and loved him. He especially loved spending time with his three Grandchildren, Jacqui, Audree, Jacob; and two Great Granddaughters, Jena and Sophie.  Gilberto was a Self-Made, Self-Employed Mechanic and Business Owner (Skyline Automotive) for 37 years.  He proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army and two years in the United States Military Reserves.  He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was an active volunteer with the parish school and an usher.   He was a life-long supporter of the parish school and many Northeast Businesses.  Gilberto loved to play softball, swim, and sing along with musicians at weddings and special occasions.  He enjoyed all of the family camping trips to Cloudcroft, vacations to Hawaii and California, and weekend getaways to Ruidoso.  He will be greatly missed for his kind heart, funny nature and loving ways.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 - 8:00 PM with Rosary at 6:00 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant. Committal Service will follow at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
