Gilberto Gandara was born on December 16, 1933 in Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away on August 10, 2021 in El Paso, Texas.
Gilberto is survived by his wife Guadalupe, and his children Jaime (Elizabeth), Ricardo, Gilberto Jr., Lucita (Juan) Lopez, Norma (Jose) Diaz, and Bertha (Rudy) Alvarez. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces/nephews. He had 14 siblings.
Gilberto will be remembered for his eternal love for his bride of 65 years and his adoration for his family. He embraced the Charro culture and was a member of the Emiliano Zapata Charro Association. He had a passion for and was best known for his artisan leather works, specializing in saddle making. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who brought so much joy to us all. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, with Rosary at 6:00 PM, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 AM, on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Family will reconvene at Sunset Funeral Homes after the Funeral Mass, from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Funeral Procession will depart at 1:00 PM from Sunset Funeral Homes, for the 2:00 PM Committal Service at Memory Gardens of the Valley 4900 McNutt.
