Gilbert “Gibby” Monteros, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 25, 2023 in El Paso, Texas. He was born to Ernesto and Dolores Monteros on January 15, 1950. He was a rambunctious child with a curiosity for life and passion for animals that would often trigger a story about his experience to be shared for years to come. He had an adventurous spirit and was also said to be the protector of the underdog since his high school days and into adulthood. He was a 1969 Austin High School graduate and attended UTEP from 1969-1970. Gibby was drawn to the profession of becoming a Master Plumber in following the footsteps of his father. He was very talented at his trade and always very proud of his work and the contribution he was making to the community. His favorite motto was "Plumbers get it right the first time!" His Master Plumber career spanned for over 50 years and he established Gibby’s Plumbing Co. in 1980. Gibby’s strong and consistent work ethic was prevalent in all he did. (He was quite the perfectionist at times.) He also proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a 2nd class petty officer Seabee. Gilbert had a strong faith in the Lord and was not shy in sharing his faith. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle and will be greatly missed.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents; Ernesto Monteros and Dolores Castillo and his wife; Maria Elena Monteros. He is survived by his current spouse; Graciela Montana Monteros, his children; Gilbert Aaron Monteros and Vivien Monteros Miller (Vaughan), his siblings; Ernesto Monteros Jr.,Janet Monteros, Gerard Montrose, Debbie Monteros, Roland Monteros, Abraham Monteros, Jacob Monteros, and Carlos Monteros, as well as his 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor his memory.
