Borderland Gilbert Simon Acosta, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, and proud graduate of Bowie High School. Gilbert was a Parts Manager at Contractor’s Equipment Company. After retirement, his favorite pastime was spending time with family. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sports events and celebrating their academic achievements. In addition to being the biggest #1 Dallas Cowboys fan, he was his children’s and grandchildren’s most dedicated supporter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Refugio M, his son, Gilbert Acosta Jr., brother ; Marcos Esteban Acosta, Sister; Lorenza Eva Acosta ( Sister Gonzaga Maria). Cherishing his memories forever, are his two daughters, Yolanda Ramirez, and Gloria Alba; nine sons, Fernando, Armando, Francisco, Jaime, Alfred, Guillermo, Gerald, Tomas and Refugio Acosta, Sisters; Julieta McManus, Margarita Rojo, Estella Duran, Martha Carrillo, Brother; George Acosta, in addition 28 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren as well as may nieces and nephews. It is amazing how many lives influenced and hearts he touched, and we would like to thank everyone who got to be a part of his life. We love you so much and you will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-9:00p.m. Monday February 7, 2011 with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas located at 9521 North Loop Dr. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 8, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church located at 1700 George Dieter 79936. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
