Gertrud I. DiMaggio

Gertrud (Gerdi) Ingeborg DiMaggio, passed away quietly in her El Paso home on February 9, 2022, at the age of 88. Gertrud is predeceased by Benjamin S. DiMaggio Sr., her loving husband of 66 years. They were married in Fulda, Germany on March 23rd, 1955. Gertrud will be remembered by her children, Joseph DiMaggio, Benjamin DiMaggio Jr., Margret Shannon; grandchildren, Benjamin J. DiMaggio and Justin Shannon as well as her great grandchildren, Aeris, William and Matthew Shannon. Gertrud was born in Hattenhof, Germany in October, 1933. She accompanied her husband to the United States in 1957 and earned citizenship in 1958. Gertrud retired from the El Paso Independent School District in 1991. Gertrud enjoyed RV travel, cooking and baking (especially holiday cookies and treats). Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso TX 79904 on Monday, February 28th from 10:00-11:00 am followed by Funeral Service at 11:30 am. Committal Service will follow at 1:00 pm, Monday, February 28 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
