Gerardo “Yuma” “Jerry” Madrid, Jr., 49, passed away the morning of June 21, 2009. Visitation: The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home on Resler, El Paso, Texas with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Interment to follow at Memorial Pines Cemetery. Yuma was born Feb. 28, 1960 to Gerardo and Ernestina Madrid. As a child he was raised in Anthony, Tx; the family later relocated to West El Paso, where he graduated from Coronado High School. Yuma meet Josephine Luebano and they married on May 29, 1986. Yuma was a devoted husband and a loving father to his daughter, two sons and grandson. Yuma enjoyed conversing with friends about sports and watching his beloved team, the Steelers. Yuma and his wife enjoyed traveling the country by car. Yuma thrived working in retail his entire adult life. At the time of his death, Yuma was a dedicated employee of Walgreen’s on Resler and Dollar General in El Paso. His family loved him dearly and will cherish all their wonderful memories. Yuma touched the hearts of his friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Yuma is preceded in death by his father Gerardo Loera Madrid. Survivors: the love of his life, wife, Josie Madrid; Mother, Ernestina Madrid; daughter and her husband Ranessa Allen-Moore and Jason Moore; sons John Anthony Madrid, Jeremy Adam Madrid; grandson, Elgin Allen-Moore and his German Shepherd, Balboa. Brothers and sisters: Jose Madrid and wife Rosalinda; Ernie Madrid; Angel Amaya; Suzie Waldon and husband Tony of Fort Worth; Sylvia Madrid; Sabrina Ricarte and her husband, Jose. Nephews and nieces: Nadia Madrid, Selina Madrid, Joseph Madrid, Tristan Waldon and Travis Waldon; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews in laws, and cousins throughout the country. Pallbearers: sons, John and Jeremy Madrid, brother, Jose Madrid; nephew, Russell Justin Lucero; in-laws, Jose Ricarte and Tony Waldon. Close friends Forrest Rich and Chuck Loper. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
