Longtime El Paso resident Gerrie Nelson-Tolman passed away on February 15th, surrounded by her husband, children and grandkids. Gerrie was a tough and feisty woman with a wicked sense of humor. She was a friend and mentor to her children and grandkids; they truly loved talking and spending time with her. Gerrie was a very accepting and non-judgmental woman, accepting people for their short-comings, always leaving an open door for them to reach out in times of trouble. Gerrie was a successful and well respected business woman, organizing estate sales and doing appraisals, she always had an eye for elegance and beauty. She was admired and respected by friend’s family and peers. Although tiny in stature, she was mighty in wisdom and advice. She had an adventurous spirit, known for spontaneity and so adored by all who had the privilege of being part of her life. Gerrie’s spiritual beliefs were her own, believing she would be reunited with the loved ones that pre-deceased her, especially her baby Angela. We know that she will visit us in our dreams and forever live within our hearts. Truly a one-of-a-kind woman was survived by three children, Tommy Nelson, Dorie Fimon, and Laurie Walker. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery. Reception to follow at the family’s home. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
