Gerald W. Risinger

July 17, 1932 — April 7, 2012

Gerald Wayne Risinger, 7/17/1932-4/7/2012 Passed away peaceful in his home and joined our Heavenly Father and his wife Comora Arlene Risinger who recently passed. Gerald was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. He served in the USAF during the Korean Era. Gerald studied and graduated from NMSU Music Program in 1957...he was a TKE, where he met his wife of 54 years. During the summer breaks from his job with EPISD as a Band director, Gerald attended North Texas State University. There he earned his Masters Degree in Music. He taught band in the Austin High School area for 35 years. His primary school was Bassett Middle School. Gerald played and directed at the beginnings of “The Music Under The Stars” program. He was a Band President at the El Maida Shrine Temple. Gerald and his family were members at Grandview Baptist church where he played fast pitch softball as catcher. In his retirement Gerald played horseshoes, pool, golf and volunteered at the El Paso Police Department. Gerald was a beloved father to Brent Risinger and Dawn Risinger Graham. Grandfather to Naomi, Jackie, Sandy, Adam and Nicole. Great Grandfather to Daniel, Stacey, Alex, Madison, Dakota, Jonathan, Marcellus and Emerie. Father In Law to Irma and Tim. Gerald leaves behind two brothers, Don Risinger of Las Cruces NM and Glen Risinger of St. Louis Missouri. Gerald will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends and many students he has taught over the years. Service will be at 4pm on April 13, 2012 at Vineyard Church 6115 Trans Mountain El Paso Texas 79924 All are welcome
