Georgia Lea Moore, 86, departed this life peacefully June, 21, 2021 surrounded by her family. Georgia was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on September 24, 1934. She graduated from Franklin Parish Training School and attended El Paso Community College. Georgia married John L. Moore Jr., and faithfully supported his service in the U.S. Army until his retirement. Georgia worked for the Ysleta Independent School District for 20 years and retired in 1994. With her whole heart she loved Jesus Christ, and greatly enjoyed flowers, gardening, El Paso’s version of the 4 seasons, each holiday, and all celebrations. She was gifted at changing home décor seasonally and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She was known to liberally gift new pajamas AKA “GramJams” to family and friends. She adored her children, her grandchildren and loved God and country faithfully. May the work of her life speak for her as she enters her new home in glory.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents George and Debbie Ignont and two sons, Len R. Moore and Shedrick D. Moore. She leaves precious memories to be cherished with her beloved husband John L. Moore Jr., son Donald L. Moore, daughter Millicent Dixon, Lanelle Moore all of El Paso, Texas, Carolyn McGrew of Houston, Texas, Elaine Belardo (José) of Lansing, Kansas and Georgia Laverne Moore of Leavenworth, Kansas. Additionally, her brother Dell Ignont, sisters Erma Norfleet, and Debbie C. Ignont. Thirteen grandchildren: LaVette Zachary † (Damion), Cyrise Dixon, Lance Moore † (Melissa), Michael Dixon, Debra McGrew, Vicki Moore, Karin Moore, Terry McGrew (Yvonne), Mariah Moore, Lauren Poe (Isaac), Jared Belardo, Drake Childress, and Morgan Belardo; 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of dearly loved nieces and nephews will mourn her loss.
Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. with a Celebration of Life Service at 11 A.M., Friday, July 2, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Burial will follow at 1 P.M. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed.
