Evangelist Georgia H. Galloway, age 86, transcended this life on Thursday, February 25, 2021.
She was born on August 15, 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. George Harris in Shelby County, Tennessee. Georgia attended Woodstock High School, then Tennessee State University, Memphis State University, and graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Georgia was a teacher for the Catholic Diocese of El Paso, later worked as a social worker at a men’s halfway house. Then she returned to the educational system of EPISD, retiring after 40 years in education. Georgia was an ordained Evangelist and member of the City Wide Missions.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mattie Joe Harris, and her brother, Willie James Harris. She is survived by her husband Elder Melvin Galloway, son; Joseph (Alicia) Turner, daughter; Veloria Turner, and stepson; Melvin (Joyce) Galloway Jr., one brother, three sisters, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, six grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM, at Holy Light COGIC, 5928 Trowbridge, El Paso, TX, 79905. The Private Graveside Service will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Please visit online registry at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
