George Stewart, devoted husband and loving father, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Blanca, his daughter Sonia and her husband Heath Curry, his Son Patrick, granddaughters Sonia, Valerie, Callie, grandson Max, and great granddaughter Ava. His is also survived by his beloved sister Blanche Rivero and countless nieces and nephews, and cousins.
George was born and raised in El Paso, TX. He was a proud Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War on the USS Oriskany carrier. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Western and was an Art and Math teacher for over 35 years. George will be remembered for his never-ending wit and humor, his amazing artwork that included sand paintings, ceramics, and stained glass, his love of sports and dogs, and his recliner. He made friends everywhere he went and will be missed dearly.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 1 pm at St Patricks Episcopal Church in Broken Arrow, OK. A reception will follow. And he will return to his hometown for his internment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Committal Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
