George Edward Riley

George E. Riley passed away suddenly August 2, 2012, aged 68, following a long illness. A long time El Paso resident, he leaves behind two sons, Michael Edward and Joseph James, and 5 grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964 overseas and in Florida and California. He graduated from UTEP in 1976 with a degree in Microbiology. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Maria del Refugio and Father, James E. Riley, Jr. He also has three brothers; James E. Riley III of Seattle, John W. Riley, El Paso, Robert L. Riley, El Paso and sister, Patricia Y. Riley, U.S. Army, Lt Col, Ft. Hood Texas. George worked a variety of jobs after leaving the Navy including being a fireman, manager at several businesses and in car sales. His passion, though, was teaching, from which he retired in 2010. Services begin at 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass on August 8th. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on August 9th followed by interment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
