George Frank Hernandez, Sr., 64, entered eternal life on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Bowie High School. George served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He earned an Associates Degree in Fire Technology at the El Paso Community College. He proudly served in the El Paso Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as Captain. George was preceded in death by parents, Lucita and Francisco Hernandez. He is survived by his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 41 years, Irma; proud sons, George Jr. and Steven Louis; parents-in-law, Amparo and Luis Macias; sister, Marisela Campa (Esteban); brothers, David, Richard, Gilbert (Stephanie), and Martin; two nieces and three nephews; Aunt Fela and several cousins. Dad enjoyed gardening, traveling, history, and movies. His loving, helpful, and caring spirit will always be cherished. We truly miss and love you very much, Dad! You will always be my soulmate, Honito! God blessed us with an incredibly beautiful life together!! Thank you, Hon! I LOVE YOU! Visitation will take place on Monday, June 1st from 4-9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
