George William Hansel “Bill”, 88, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Bill was born in Celina, Ohio on May 27, 1925. Bill's family includes Mary Virginia Hansel, beloved wife of 56 years now deceased; son David E. Hansel, wife Lerna, grandsons Matthew and Joshua, all of Magnolia, Texas; son Gary W. Hansel, wife Anne, grandsons Bill and Paul, all of Houston, Texas, and great-granddaughter Kaylee McPherson; daughter, Pamela Sue Tandy, husband Jay Tandy, granddaughters Karen Martinez and Renee La Plante, great grandson Aidan Martinez, great granddaughter Christen LaPlante, all of Richland, Washington. Living brothers Richard Hansel and wife Joyce of St. Marys, Ohio; Hubert Hansel of Coldwater, Michigan and sister Janice Miehls and husband Tom of Fort Jennings, Ohio. Bill was one of nine siblings.
Bill served his country in the US Army during WWII primarily in the Pacific theater of operation. Following Bill's honorable discharge in 1946 at the rank of sergeant, he began a successful career with Texaco Oil Company. Bill retired from Texaco following 37 years of dedicated service.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home – East, Chapel of Peace, 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX 79915. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Email condolences for the family may be submitted to sunsetfuneralhome@att.net.
