George Gomez, Sr., 65, of Sunland Park, NM, passed away on January 8, 2013. George was a 1966 graduate of Gadsden High School. He was married to his high school sweetheart Grace for 43 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked at Hortex Mfg., JC Penney, and the Gadsden Independent School District. George was a devoted husband, a loving and caring father and the greatest grandpa ever. He was a loyal Cowboy fan and enjoyed Horror and Sci-fi movies. There was nothing better than his homemade pancakes and his jokes. There wasn’t a thing that couldn’t be fixed with super glue and duct tape or a moment that couldn’t be brightened with a Hershey’s Kiss. George was the core that held everything together through thick and thin. A loving man that will be in our hearts forever and will always be missed. George was preceded into God’s kingdom by his mother Luz Gomez. George is survived by his loving wife Grace: Children George Gomez Jr. and Yvonne Irigoyen. Siblings: Lucy Gomez, Alberto Gomez Jr. and Letty Lozano: Father Alberto Gomez: Grandchildren Derek, Arturo, Christian, Bianca, Tiffany, Sebastian: great-Grandchildren, Hailee. Visitation: 5:00-9:00 pm, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, with Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass: 9:00 am, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at San Martin de Porras Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Memorial Pines Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
