George Davis

January 30, 1930 — April 9, 2011

George Davis passed away on April 9,2011. He is survived by his wife Katherine and his four sons Tom, George, Bruce, Glenn and his daughter in law Diane. He also is remembered by his beloved sister Ginny and brother in law Mac Etheredge. He has two grandchildren Malia and Kaden who he adored. He was preceded in death by his father Tony Davis. George was born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania on January 30, 1930 and came to El Paso as a child with his father. He spent the rest of his life in El Paso where he enjoyed many friends and his extended family. He went to college at Texas A and M for 2 years and subsequently graduated from UTEP. He served in the Army two years during the Korean War as a first lieutenant. He was stationed in Okinawa with an antiaircraft division. He returned to El Paso where he worked for the El Paso County Health Department. Next, he took over the family business, San Antonio Furniture, which he owned and operated for the next 25 years. After retiring he enjoyed substitute teaching in the El Paso Independent School District where the children loved him. Like his father, Tony, George Davis was kind, warm and loving. He was admired by his sons for these traits. He enjoyed sports, reading and spending time with his family and two grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity in his honor. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
