Garland “Buck” Scott was escorted into his heavenly reward on November 2, 2011. Buck was born on May 16, 1918 in Loving, Oklahoma, Buck joined the United States Army Air-Corps and served as a pilot during World War II, rising to the rank of Captain. Buck was a life-long flyer having a private pilot’s license for many years after leaving the Army Air Corps. At the conclusion of World War II, Buck was an entrepreneur owning several businesses which included automobile dealerships and restaurants. Buck opened the first Shakey’s Pizza Parlour in El Paso in 1968 and owned the franchisee for over 20 years. Buck also developed and started the original BBQ restaurant in El Paso in 1970, Bucks Rib n’ Stein. Over his life time, Buck owned car dealerships in Anthony, New Mexico, El Paso, Texas, Ruidoso and Alamogordo, New Mexico. Buck was also a life-time member of the Grand Lodge of Missouri A.F. and A.M. Buck is pre-deceased by his devoted wife of 59 years, Claravon “Marks” Scott, and is survived by their children Clark Eugene Scott, Sue Nell “Scott” Gremar, grandchildren Daniel Matthew Gremar and Noah Michael Gremar. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Star Chapter 4687 N. Mesa Street, Suite 200, El Paso, Texas, 79912. Grateful thanks to Buck’s extended family Bea, Marie, Judy, Nellie and the entire staff at Ambrosio Guillen Texas Veterans Home for their loving care.
