Gardiner W. James, Sr., 81, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2013. He was born September 10, 1931 in Barnard, KS and was a resident of El Paso for 43 years. Gardiner (known as “Bill”) served in the Army for 32 years retiring as a CW4 in 1982. He served 2 tours in Vietnam from 1967-68 and 1970-1971. He is preceded in death by his first wife Margaret E. James, his second wife, Lettie A. James, his third wife, Bonnie James and his son Edward J. James. He is survived by three brothers, Jack and wife Rose, Richard and wife Cathy, and Jimmy Joe and wife Sue. He is also survived by his son, Gardiner W. James, Jr. and wife Julie, Edward’s wife, Evelyn, 4 stepchildren, William Ballew, Sandra Maselli, David Ballew , wife Linda, Debra Nalley, husband Melvin, 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maria and David Vargas of Edgerock Adult Foster Care Home for their care, compassion, and friendship. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso TX 79904 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Committal Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
