Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Frank Schoch, Sr. of Las Cruces, New Mexico, entered eternal life on June 27, 2008 while surrounded by loving family. Frank was born the third son of four boys in Aston Mills, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1920 to Charles and Margaret Schoch. He grew up in Clifton Heights and along with his brothers Charles, Phillip, and Joseph helped support his mother, after his father passed away at an early age.
All four sons entered the service during WWII; Frank joined the U.S. Army in 1940 served in the horse-drawn artillery (16th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Cavalry Division) and was selected to ride in Franklin Roosevelt’s 1940 inauguration. While stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma his rough and tough ways were quickly tamed by a little farm girl who he adored. Frank and Jeffie Eileen May were married in 1943 and were together for 65 years at his passing. Frank saw action in WWII with the 69th Infantry Division, and Korea. In 1957, he reported to duty at Fort Bliss and was instrumental in the R&D and implementation of the Hawk System and retired from the Army in 1964 as a Chief Warrant Office III. He joined U.S. Civil Service in 1966 and worked as a radar technician for the German Air Force Air Defense School until his retirement in 1983, after which he pursued one of his favorite hobbies – golfing. Frank was responsible for inspiring several new generations of young golfers. If he wasn’t on the golf course he was in the swimming pool with his grandchildren of which he was so proud of.
Preceding him in death were his brothers Phillip, Charles and Joseph — all WWII veterans. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Jeffie Eileen, his sons Frank Jr., Stan, Steven, and his daughter Patricia Meisenzahl, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom are immensely grateful to and proud of him.
