Frank John Ruchlewicz, 85, born on April 17, 1924 in Rend City, Illinois to Justyn and Mary Ruchlewicz passed away on November 25, 2009. Mr. Ruchlewicz enjoyed softball, fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a Boy Scout leader for the American Legion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Council No. 638 (Mother Council of Texas) and the Athletic Officer of the American Legion in Benton, Illinois. Frank worked as a coal miner for John L. Lewis and served in the U.S. Army including WWII in the Aleutian Islands, England, France, Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, Holland, Belgium, California, Texas, and Indiana. His duties included anti-aircraft, cooking, banking and supervising. He retired in 1969 with 22 years of creditable service at Fort Bliss, TX as a Sergeant First Class, He was preceded in death by his parents, Justyn and Mary Ruchlewicz, brother, Antoni, sister, Ann, niece, Mary Rubly, and by his beloved wife, Louise Raska Ruchlewicz, whom he married on March 16, 1964. He is survived by his nephews, Paul (wife, Jeanette) Ruchlewicz, James Ruchlewicz, Timothy (wife, Janice) Raska, Ronald (wife, Carolyn) Raska, and James (wife, Joan) Raska, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 for Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm at St. Michael’s Chapel No. 2.
