Frank Gonzales

On October 17, 2012, Frank Gonzales went home to be with our Lord after a 3 year battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, Illinois on February 1, 1943, he moved to El Paso at the age of 5, attended Ascarate Elementary , Ysleta and El Paso Tech. Later he joined the U.S. Navy. He made his way into many hearts with his charm and witty personality. Frank’s businesses included refinishing furniture, upholstery, thrift stores and the reconstruction of many El Paso retail stores. In later years, he worked at Boeing, Toro, and Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. His passions in life were simple, yet one of a kind, creations. He was known for his beautiful planters made from recycled light bulbs, bringing smiles and tears of joy across the world. Frank has now joined his brother Enrique “Jiggs” Gomez Jr. in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria “Estela”, brothers Eduardo Gomez and Ernesto Gomez, sons Frank Gonzales Jr. and his wife Yolanda, Tom Gonzales and his wife Michelle Duryee and daughter Valerie and her husband Kenneth Kaulbach. He will be missed dearly by his 7 grand-daughters Ashlee Gonzales, Mercedes Gonzales, Soleil Vallejo, Alisa Vallejo, Emily Gonzales, Iliana Gonzales, and Lorena Gonzales. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm with a Vigil at 7 pm Monday, October 22, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Northeast. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:45 am Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
