Frank Garcia

October 11, 1937 — August 5, 2024

Our beloved father, Frank Garcia, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 5, 2024 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 86. He is survived by his dear wife of 41 years, Marie Louise Garcia, his children: Mark Michael Garcia, Thomas Alan Garcia, and Melinda Marie Garcia, his 5 siblings, his 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his parents: Agustine Garcia and Virginia Montelongo, his daughter: Deborah Ann Sainz, and his brother: Ray Garcia.

Frank was born in El Paso, Texas on October 11, 1937. El Paso was more than just home for Frank; it was his greatest life influence. From the streets of old central El Paso, to the majestic desert mountain landscapes, Frank was always inspired by the beauty of this city. God blessed him with an innate talent to paint and he began painting at the age of five. He continued to produce a variety of artwork through his academic schooling, including being the artist for the journalism department at El Paso High School, and a student art instructor at Texas Western College (now known as UTEP). He received his B.A. in Education, Spanish and Art from Texas Western College in 1964. Frank was in the United States Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant in 1966.

Frank went on to have a long successful career as an educator with E.P.I.S.D., and pursued his Masters of Education from Stephen F. Austin University in 1982. He ended his over-30-year career as a Student Activities Director at Bowie High School in 1993. In his retirement years he was an active member of the El Paso Art Association, and he professionally displayed his art at the Sunland Art Gallery, the El Paso International Art Museum, and various establishments throughout the city. His passion was to depict the history, culture, and landscape of El Paso. Frank spent his free time with loved ones, friends, and was an avid UTEP Miner fan.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be dearly missed. He is survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor his memory.
