Francisco "Don Panchito" Mejia,

Francisco “Don Panchito” Mejia Sr., 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather (ito), and great-grandfather was called to heaven to join his wife, Olivia, on November 28, 2008 in El Paso, TX. He was born in Chiapas, Mexico on October 4, 1923, orphan as a small child; raised by his aunts and other relatives. He learned the value of hard work at a very young age, a lesson he taught all his children. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1955 and lived in California and El Paso. One of the proudest days of his life was when he became a U.S. citizen. He taught all his children love of family, country (USA) and God. He was a very hard working man and devoted his life to his family. He and his wife preached education and made sure all their children graduated from the University. He was a very productive and patriotic American. As a young man he enjoyed playing soccer “futbol,” he had a lifelong passion for soccer, especially his team “Cruz Azul,” “Azul Siempre Azul.“ In his later years Mr. Mejia enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting his friends at the Plaza and playing cards. Mr. Mejia is survived by his sons, Francisco Mejia, Jr., Pablo Mejia and his wife Irma; daughters, Lourdes Snively and husband Tracy, Maggie Dore and husband Roland; his grandchildren, Pamela, Melissa, Amanda, Tony, Andrew, Roland Jr., Daniel, Lulu and his great-grandchildren, Andrew and Katelyn. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Christ the Savior Catholic Church at 5301 Wadsworth with interment to follow at Mt.
