Francisco "Paco" Macias

Francisco “Paco” Macias, age 72, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. Francisco is preceded in death by his loving parents; Porfirio Macias and Carmen Mejia. He is survived by his loving wife; Teresa Ann Macias; his dearest children; Cynthia Lorraine Yañez (Fernando), Eric Raymond Macias, Nicole Suzette Bustillos (Izaiah) and Catherine Marie Balderas (Albert); his sisters; Sylvia Lopez, Martha Melero and Patricia Macias; his 10 wonderful grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor his memory.

Francisco Macias was born on October 4,1950, in Santa Clara, Durango. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1969. Francisco continued his education at El Paso Community College where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science.

In 1971, Francisco joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for six years. Francisco received the following medals/commendations during his tour of active duty: Rifle Expert Award, National Defense Service Medal and two Vietnam Service Medals.

Francisco began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1978, and served his community until his retirement from federal government service.

Francisco met the Love of his life Teresa in 1973 and married her in 1974. They shared a 49 year marriage filled with love and commitment to each other. 

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home- West with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, followed by a Graveside Service at 1:00 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
