Francis John Chesak passed away peacefully at his home on February 8, 2025, in El Paso, Texas. Born on February 9, 1933, to Carl and Della Chesak, Francis was a devoted husband to his wife of 70 years, Jo Ann and a wonderful father to his four children, Mike, David, Cyndi, and Sue. He was an inspiration to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He didn't know a stranger and was affectionately known as Friendly Frank. Francis had a zest for life and lived a life marked by devotion to family, hard work, and community involvement.

Francis played basketball and graduated from Cathedral High School. Basketball earned him a scholarship to Texas Tech University; however, an ankle injury brought him back home. While in high school, he met the love of his life Jo Ann Netzer. They married on August 15, 1953. They filled their home with four children. Both were very involved in their children’s lives and always supported the kids' many endeavors.

He dedicated many years to working at the Chevron oil refinery, where his hardworking nature was well recognized. Upon retirement from Chevron, Francis and Jo Ann spent many years traveling the country in their motorhome.

Married for 70 years to his beloved wife Jo Ann, who preceded him in death, Francis was a cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his children, Mike Chesak and wife Judy, David Chesak, Cyndi Chesak Dinges and partner Sammy Rivera, and Sue Chesak Hart and husband Mike Hart. Francis was a proud grandfather to Christopher Dinges and wife, Alicia; Kevin Chesak; Kaitlin Chesak Gordon and husband, Justin; Lindsey Chesak; Ellison Chesak; Maxx Hart; Mason Hart and wife, Ann; and Merrick Hart; and a great-grandfather to Reid, Hayes, and Graham Dinges.

Beyond his family, Francis was deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of the Optimist Club, Roncalli, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Eastwood High School Booster Club.

A devout member of St. Rafael's Catholic Church, his faith played a significant role in his life and actions. Francis's legacy of kindness, generosity, and leadership is evident in the numerous lives he touched.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, March 3, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will follow at 11:00 AM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Francis may be directed toward El Paso Assistance League or Hospice of El Paso.
