Flora Quinones Campbell was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on August 14, 1921 and took her last breath surrounded by her family on December 16, 2017 in San Antonio, TX.
Flora loved life and often shared stories of growing up in her native Costa Rica. As a child and teenager she always wanted to be outside enjoying the beauty of her country, playing basketball, and flirting with the boys in the park.
She met the love of her life, her king, William V. Campbell, while he was stationed in Costa Rica during World War II. They married on June 3, 1942 and relocated to El Paso in 1943 where they welcomed and raised their 4 children, Linda, Bill, Jr, JoAnn, and Suzy.
She loved taking care of her family, taking long trips to the beach in San Carlos, Mexico, shopping, and spending time in various casinos. She was an avid sun and water person and experiencing the two together could keep her captivated for hours! She served as Consulate to Costa Rica and she was very proud to receive her U.S. citizenship about 20 years ago.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Campbell, her mother, Rosa Arguello, her sister Carmen Beals, and her sister –in-law, Betty Campbell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Bill Campbell, Jr (Jody), and daughters, Linda Ferdinand (Dennis), JoAnn McRae (Steve), and Suzy Appel (Jay) and 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many friends and caregivers at Memory Care of Westover Hills, San Antonio, TX.
