Fernando Flores-Maldonado, 68, passed away at home on Monday, March 1, 2021.
Fernando was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on May 30, 1952. He later went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. Fernando would later marry the love of his life on July 2, 1982, Celia.
Fernando served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired as Sergeant First Class on March 17, 1995. He later attended college and earned two Associate’s of Applied Science degrees in Computer Information Systems-Microcomputer Applications/ Telecommunications and Networking, a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Arts degree in Information Technology Management. He later earned a second retirement while working at Fort Bliss as an IT Specialist. He loved serving his country, being a dedicated husband, loving father, and grandfather. He was passionate about academia, enjoyed traveling all over the world, loved gardening, watching movies, reading and was a fountain of knowledge.
Fernando was preceded in death by his parents; Zaragoza Cazares and Guadalupe Flores-Maldonado. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years Celia E. Flores, and daughters; Melissa-Cristal E. Nuñez, Rachel-Isis E. Flores, son; Fernando Jr. E. Flores and granddaughter; Victoria G. Nuñez.
Visitation and Rosary for Fernando Flores-Maldonado will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home- Northeast; 4631 Hondo Pass Drive from 1PM-4PM. Funeral mass will be held the following day on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 9:30AM at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
