Fernando Fuentes (PE) “Fernie”, 81, born Sept 8, 1927 passed away peacefully at home on Feb 9, 2009 with his wife at his side. Fernie met his soul-mate Anita, here in El Paso and they were married for 54 years. Fernie was a proud Bowie Bear, Class of ’45 and served in the Marines Corps and Reserves for 24 years with a cumulative Federal service of 41 years. He received his BSEE from TWC (UTEP) where he retired from TRADOC/WSMR. Fernie’s greatest quality was humbly serving others as: founding member of the Young Marines of EP, past Commandant of the El Paso Marine Corps League, member of the El Maida Shriners, Master Mason with the Scottish Rite Body for over 50 years, Lion’s Club and other service activities. Fernie is survived by his dedicated wife Anita, his children Fernando (Sandra), Rose (Dwight), Richard (Lily); grandchildren Christina, Richard, Matthew, Nicole, Katherine , and 5 siblings. He was a blessing and much loved, and his laughter and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Thursday February 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a USMC presentation at 6:30 pm and prayer service at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Services will be on Friday at 9:00 am at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
