Eva M. Piedra

Eva M. Piedra, 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. 

Eva was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 26, 1940. At an early age she would help her family in the fields planting and harvesting their corn and bean fields. When she was a teenager, her family moved to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico where she worked to help her parents and family. Eva met the love of her life, Jesus Pedro, in Juarez and they soon married on March 8, 1966 in El Paso, Texas.

Eva was a wonderful wife and lovingly tended to her husband with care. She also raised four children and provided constant love and care for them. When she became a widow, she took on the dual responsibility of mother and father and did it with much grace. In her 40s, she worked as a home health care provider for more than 20 years. All of her patients loved the care that she provided to them. As a devout Christian, Eva was very involved in her church, Iglesia Bautista El Camino, including volunteering as a greeter during services. She would read her Bible constantly and would always pray for her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Pedro, her parents, Fermin Medina and Carlota Mendoza, her brother, Manuel Medina, and her sisters, Josefina, Toña, Silvia, and Lety. She is survived by her brothers, Jesus Medina, Pablo Medina and wife Lola. She also leaves behind her children, Celina Guzman and husband Armando, Jesus Piedra and wife Lety (†), Elena Harrienger and husband Daniel, Leticia Peña and husband Alex, her grandchildren Edgar and wife Vanessa, Luis and wife Taylor, Sofia, Miguel and husband Taelon, Daniel and wife Lorena, Marion, Isaac and wife Miranda, Celina and husband Tommy, Virginia, Jaime, Adrian, Christopher, and Gaby, and her great grandchildren Jesus Edgar Junior, Dylan, and Akio, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and caring neighbors.

A Visitation for Eva will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 5-8pm, with a message at 6pm at Sunset Funeral Home, Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Also, a funeral service on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
