Eugene Carnell Brooks

Eugene Carnell Brooks, 64, was called to his eternal home on Friday, January 17, 2025. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Eugene was born in El Paso, Texas, on May 1, 1960. He graduated from Ysleta High School where he was a standout baseball player and football star earning the nickname of Spider and the attention of various major league teams including a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys. In his younger years, Eugene was also a man of many trades working and making many friends with companies like Southern Pacific Railroad, Phelps Dodge, and Swift trucking. In retirement, Eugene proudly coached The Raiders in El Paso’s adult football league and played bass guitar at New Beginnings Ministries in Horizon City.

Eugene is preceded in death by his father, Webster Brooks. He is survived by his mother, Leome Ceasear, and his wife of 31 years, Claudia Brooks. He leaves behind six children, Eugene Nathaniel (Lorena) Brooks, Tiffany Brooks, Mariya (Terri) Brooks, Eugina (Jermorio) Brooks, Briana (Jawaun) Brooks, and Andrew (Alana) Brooks as well as seven grandchildren Nyranja, Tony, Zniyah, Jayden, Kamari, Azaria, and Jermorio Jr. He is survived by his brothers Bobby Brooks, Freddy Brooks, Webster Brooks Jr., and Michael Brooks as well as his lovely sisters Janet Brooks and Sherry Brooks.

We all take comfort in the special memories Eugene gave us and are forever grateful for the moments we shared with him. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 31, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina.
