Estella Pena

Our beloved mom, Mrs. Estella Peña passed away at home with her family September 14, 2011. Estella was born on May 30, 1936. She was a wonderfully kind and loving mother and grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Mrs. Pena was a member of Sweet Adeline’s and was a substitute teacher at Mt Carmel Parochial School for many years. She attended El Paso Community College and also worked for YISD as a Teachers Assistant in the 1980’s. Estella volunteered as a reading Specialist for El Paso Community College and at various nursing homes with Friends of the Cielo Vista Library. She also worked as secretary for Dr. Rita Don, Dermatologist. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rodolfo Pena. She was the beloved mother of four children: Rodolfo Peña Jr, Ernest Eric Peña, of El Paso, TX, Jacqueline Gerri Dykes of Salisbury Md, and Lorie Rose McCarthy of El Paso, TX., brothers; Aurelio De La Torre Jr., and Enrique De La Torre and sisters; Maria Elena Hines, Rose Peinado and Rita Hood. She was a proud grandmother of Elizabeth Dykes, Rachel Dykes, and Hannah Dykes of Salisbury Md., Monserrat Peña and Dayan Delgado of Austin, TX, Josiah Teller and Caroline Teller both of El Paso, TX. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home East.
