Ernesto Martinez

Ernesto Martinez, age 66, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 10, 2024 in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, godfather, and will be greatly missed. Ernesto is preceded in death by his father: Otilio Martinez and his sister: Beatriz Martinez. He is survived by his mother: Maria Antonieta Melendez, his wife: Irma Martinez, and his siblings: Gracie Corona, Ricardo (Lorraine) Martinez, Mario (Monica) Martinez, Tilo (Michelle) Martinez, Gilbert (Patti) Martinez, Arcelia Guerra, and Cristina (Arturo) Flores. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory. 

Ernesto was born in El Paso, Texas, attended Coronado High School went onto college where he obtained his business degree. Working in Retail/Sales fit Ernesto perfectly due to his charismatic personality.  While managing a shoe store in downtown El Paso he met his beloved wife, Irma.  They married November 1997 and loved each other for 27 years.  

He will be remembered for his generosity, unconditional love and inspiration.  But most of all he will be remembered for his humor and resonated laughter. 

Words cannot describe how much the Big Dawg will be missed.   Pups Nala, Tommy, Chacha and Bruce have dad with them now while mom takes care of Lulu, Sam and Layla. 

Pallbearers include: Ricardo, Gilbert, Mario, Tilo, Danny, Mark, Michael, and Adrian.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes-West with a Rosary to commence at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5750 Doniphan Dr. El Paso, Texas 79932. A Graveside Service will follow at 11:45am at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM 88008
