Ernesto Hernandez

February 11, 1922 — March 30, 2011

Ernesto “Ernie/Neto” Hernandez Sr., life-long resident of El Paso passed away March 30, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. As a teen he worked for Price’s Creameries, he then joined the U.S Army honorably serving his country during World War II. He then returned to El Paso, married the love of his life, Maria Batres and has been married for 62 years. He resumed working for Price’s, retiring after 45 years of loyal service. Neto loved playing golf, especially the 19th hole where he enjoyed playing cards and drinking a few cold beers with friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Herlinda Hernandez and his daughter Haydee Priego. He is survived by his wife Maria B. Hernandez, his daughters; Patricia Tersinar, Elena (Michael) Medrano, his sons Ernesto (Star) Hernandez Jr. Joseph (Bobbie) Hernandez, his eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and his “grand-dog” Fonzi. He is also survived by his sisters Maria Elena Lopez, Edna Rodriguez, Lydia Ramirez and Magdalena Martinez. We’re broken-hearted, but are comforted to know that Dad loved his family, and lived life to its fullest. Hard-work, honesty, and loyalty were instilled in his children and paramount to his way of life. Dad may the sun always be at your back, and your drives be long…and straight. A Vigil will be at 10:45 am with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am on Monday, April 4, 2011 St. Pius X Catholic church. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, with military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
