Ernesto Ramon Contreras

Ernesto R. Contreras, 69, passed away Nov. 12, 2020. Ernie was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, as the oldest brother of five. Survived by his loving wife Lorraine Contreras; daughters Celeste Cortinas (husband, Daniel) and Crystal Contreras; grandchildren Cailey Leos, Mason Cortinas and Sloan Cortinas; and brothers Eutemio Conteras, Javier Contreras, Victor Contreras and Mario Contreras. Ernie was a U.S. Navy veteran, but his true calling was to help others. He served as a nurse for 48 years until his passing. Ernie loved to cook and entertain friends and family, often playing music from his expansive collection. Ernie left this world too soon, and he leaves behind many broken hearts and tearful eyes. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. - noon Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr. Mass will follow at noon, with burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
