Ernest Wesley Chestnutt fell asleep in death June 22, 2007. He was born in Fleming Georgia October 17, 1923. He came to El Paso as a young man and later made his life in Alamogordo, NM. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and a warm, giving human being. He had a great love for his heavenly father Jehovah and spent much of his time sharing his hope with others. Ernest is survived by his loving wife Frances; his daughters Frances Emily Hew Len and Claire Melinda Martinez (Robert); sister, Leerie A. Thomas; six grandchildren Terry-Lee Hew Len, Tina-Marie Hew Len, Tracy-Ann Borrego, Lesli Palomo, James Martinez, Gabriel Martinez. He is further survived by eight great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Nancy Chesnutt; sister Ruth Smith; brothers Willie, Alvin, and Leland; his son James B. Chestnutt. Ernest’s wisdom, humor and kindness were quite unique and brought many smiles to his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a service at 12 pm. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2007 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Alamogordo, NM on the corner of Washington and 12th Street.
