Erasmo "Arturo" Gardea

November 25, 1921 — September 2, 2010

Erasmo “Arturo“ Gardea, Beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. A well known musician he entertained audiences for 35 years at the Ft. Bliss Officer’s Club. With his adoration for music and incomparable talent he was loved by people from all over the world. As a self-taught guitar player with opportunities to travel to Japan, record, and move to New York and appear on the Ed Sullivan show he ultimately decided home is where the heart is. A selfless family man who loved his wife and children unconditionally he was able to support and establish a home for his family while living his dream. His love of life and music will forever remain within us. His energetic, strong and passionate character will be greatly missed. Erasmus “Arturo" Gardea is preceded in death by his wife; Juanita Gardea and son; Jose Arturo Gardea. He is survived by his sons; Miguel Gardea, Jay Gardea (Sylvia), and George Gardea (Linda), daughters; Hilda Lathan (Cliff) and Irma Gardea-Borunda (Phil); 23 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 4pm until 9pm with a vigil to be held at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N Carolina Drive. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10 am at Little Flower Catholic Church, 171 Polo Inn. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Dad, Grandpa, remember we love you.
