Enrique A. Ibarra

Enrique Alarcón Ibarra, 95 of El Paso, TX passed away on September 12, 2022. He was born in Mexico to Adela Ibarra Sapien and Luis Alarcón Crons. He arrived in the U.S. through the Bracero program. He later joined the U.S. Army during which he served in Vietnam and rose to the highest enlisted rank of the Army, Command Sergeant Major.

Upon retiring from the U.S. Army, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1981 from the University of Texas at El Paso, and his Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked as a social worker for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and as a case manager for William Beaumont's Army Medical Center's Family Advocacy Center.

He was a kind, loving, and patient husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. His family is left with his invaluable life lessons about caring for your loved ones, having empathy for others, and remaining humble throughout your life. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Renate Ibarra, his eldest daughter, Rosemarie Graham, and his grandson, Edison Ibarra. He will be greatly missed by his son, Enrique B. Ibarra and wife Lhyn, daughter, Adela Fuller and husband Alfred, daughter Manuela Ibarra and husband Henry Decker, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30pm to 8:00pm with a Chapel Service at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.   Committal Service will be at 9:00am on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Honors.
