Enrique Acosta, 88, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Enrique was an avid baseball player, who played for various amateur teams at Dudley Field. He also was nominated for El Paso’s baseball hall of fame. He traveled throughout the southwest showcasing his talents on the field as a shortstop. Enrique and Alexandra met in 1949. When Enrique was not on the baseball field he worked as a master mason for several construction companies and retired in 2006.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents Panfilo and Modesta Acosta, his children Blanca and Enrique Acosta Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Alexandra, sons; Norman and Richard Lujan, Gilbert, M. Rogelio and Octavio Acosta, Henry Holguin and daughters; Rosalind and Shirley Acosta, Evelyn Guerrero, Lisa Trejo, sister; Rosa Briseno and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 4631 Alabama. Interment will be Private. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
