Emma Rozuk Lucero was born on November 25, 1925 and passed away on August 11, 2018. She was a life-long resident of El Paso, TX, and was the last of six siblings born to Julian Rozuk and Delfina Cobos Rozuk who preceded her in death.
As a young child she worked for her father who had several businesses in south central
El Paso including the Pickle Inn. She attended Burleson and Bowie High School. She met, fell in love, and married Augustin Lucero in 1942 prior to his military service in World War II. While he served his country she lived and cared for her in-laws (the Lucero family) until his return. The family remained in El Paso where she dedicated herself to caring for her husband and four children.
Emma was an excellent homemaker and devoted wife. She enjoyed participating in her children’s school activities and programs. She always extended a helpful, loving hand to those less fortunate, whether it be with food or kindness. She was extremely organized and kept records of every birthday, anniversary and event in her life. Her joy was in the hand-written letters and cards she sent to everyone she came in contact with, letting them know how much she cared. Mom had a good sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She was a beautiful and caring person, inside and out.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband Augustin in May 2004, and is survived by her two sons, Raymond Louis Lucero and Richard Alfred Lucero; her two daughters, Edna Elaine Ortega and Rose Elizabeth Lucero-Mullen and their families; six grandchildren and two great grand-children.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am on Monday, August 20, 2018 at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
Mom, may you rest in peace and be
reunited with Dad.
