Walked on to the Great Chief in Heaven October 9, 2008. She was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma on September 13, 1920 to Raymond W. and Hazel Frances Fry who preceded her in death at an early age as did her baby sister Alfreda Victoria. She then lived with her grandparents, Andrew Albert and Effie Mae Coder in Wamego, Kansas for the remainder of her school years. On February 3, 1944 she married Audrey R. Walters and began a 64 year marriage with the first 25 years being an Army wife. She was a devoted wife, mother, and housekeeper, her family always came first. Her children are Judith Ann Meinking of Liverpool, New York, Audrey R. Walters Jr. of Driftwood, Texas and Andrew Thomas Walters of Oak Ridge North, Texas and included several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
She was prideful of being a Citizen of the Pottawatomie Indian Nation and the Indian culture. She was a descendant of the famous Indian matriarch Cateche Bourbonnias.
Her love of children was shown in her voluntary participation at all local levels of Parent Teacher Associations, Boy and Girl Scouts and the Salvation Army where she was awarded life membership in each. Her contributions to children’s funds, Military Service and Law Enforcement organizations was a must, her patriotism was abounding.
She enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively in the United States, Europe and Japan.
