Emma "Jean" Bickel

March 9, 1922 — October 10, 2012

Bickel, Jean Wilson, 90 Jean Bickel passed away peacefully on October 10, 2012 in Stuart, Florida where she had lived since April. Born in North Carolina, she moved with her family to El Paso as a young child. She was a graduate of El Paso High School. Jean was married to Robert Bickel for 59 years. His civil engineering career with the International Water and Boundary Commission took them to Laredo, McAllen and Del Rio, Texas and The Dalles, Oregon. They returned to her “hometown” of El Paso in 1969. She was a homemaker, real estate agent, community volunteer, and a member of P.E.O. Chapter AO. Jean touched the lives of many with her smile, humor and ability to light up a room. We remember her love of family, cooking, and sewing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, “Bob”; sister, Louise Wilbourn; brother, Jay Paul “Buddy” Wilson. She is survived by her brother & sister-in-law, Vance & Wilma Wilson; 3 children and their spouses: Jimmy & Sheri Bickel of Berryville, Arkansas; Ken Bickel of Fort Worth; Steve & Becky Collins of Port St Lucie, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Ivan & Seth Bickel; Austin & Elizabeth Collins; 2 great-grandchildren: Ivie & Mason Bickel. In her memory, a donation may be given to the charity of your choice. Memorial Service: Monday, October 29, 9:30am, Sunset Funeral Home-West. Internment: 10:30am Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
