An amazing lady of strength, dignity and grace passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009. Emilia D. Ochoa, 88, was born on December 5, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas to Fidel and Maria Duran. She started her life in Kansas City where her father was in the dairy business. They later moved to her family’s dairy farm in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. After moving to El Paso at a young age, Emilia later became well known for her designs and creations of beautiful wedding and evening gowns. She is preceded in death by her husband Antonio Ochoa, two daughters, Dora Emilia and Mary Angela Starling, two brothers, Fidel Duran and Gilberto Duran and three sisters, Adelaida De Leon, Esperanza Gonzalez and Elodia Pineda. Emilia is survived by her daughters, Blanca Vasquez and husband Piti Vasquez, Rose Mary Terrazas and husband Willie Terrazas and her son Antonio Ochoa and wife Rosemary Federico-Ochoa; grandchildren Bobby James Vasquez, Sean Vasquez and wife Elizabeth Vasquez, Linda Erwin and husband Tim Erwin, Cynthia Terrazas, Billy Terrazas and Winston Starling; great-grandchildren Emily Erwin, Elisa Erwin, Priscilla Mares and Peter Josem Vasquez and one great, great grandchild Audrina Puga. She is also survived by one sister Velia Barraza and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Antonio Ochoa, Piti Vasquez, Willie Terrazas, Bobby James Vasquez, Sean Vasquez, Billy Terrazas. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Nazareth Hall Nursing Home for their excellent care and love during her last five years and to Odyssey Hospice Health Care for their compassion and warmth during her final days with us. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, February 2, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Monsignor David Fierro officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery.
