Sister Emilia E. Carrillo

Emilia E. Carrillo, 93, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was born August 21, 1929, and is survived by her siblings Florence Nemec, Herminda Hille, Jimmy Carrillo, and many nieces and nephews. She was lovingly called “Sister” by several of her nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Tomasa Esquivel and Luis Carrillo, her sister Marylou Lujan Medina, and her brother Daniel Carrillo. 

Emilia was a very spiritual person and entered into a postulate at St. Anthony Seminary in Syracuse, New York from 1960-1962.

Emilia lived in El Paso, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper, caregiver, and tax advisor. She most enjoyed visiting with family and traveled back and forth from El Paso to Las Cruces, taking all the back roads for her travels. She especially enjoyed going out to eat and trying out different restaurants. She would faithfully attend mass and visit different churches in El Paso and Las Cruces. She will be remembered for her fiery spirit and will remain in our hearts forever.

Services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 beginning at 12:30 pm with a rosary, followed by eulogy at 12:50 pm and funeral mass at 1:00 pm at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Burial of ashes immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery (next door).
