Our dear mother, Elvira Pena, departed Wednesday, April 25th, 2012, after a 13 year battle with Alzheimer’s a vicious illness that did not take away her will to live. At 88 yrs, mom loved to sing and to greet everyone. She joins parents, Josefa Pacheco, Hipolito Giron of San Elizario, TX, grandparents Ramona Lucero and Ventura Pacheco, and the Gasper Giron clan of early San Elizario, TX. Her ancestors arrived in pioneer days of Mesilla (AZ), Taos/Santa Fe, NM, and San Elizario/El Paso, TX. She also joins husband, Enrique Pena, Sr. The 5th generation born in the USA, she is survived by daughter, Teresa “Ophie” Hidalgo (Rudy) Bustamante), sons, Enrique “Henry” Pena (Irma Villalobos), and Antonio “Tony” Pena (Irma G. Lopez), of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Cynthia “Cyndy” Louise Alatorre (Rick Nieraeth) of Torrance, CA, Brian Joel Pena (Sarah) of Austin, TX, Antonio “Tonito” Pena, Gilbert Pena Jorgensen, Viridiana Pena (Joe Rodriguez), and Lorianne Yvette, Christian, and Gizelle Pena all of El Paso, TX. Great-grandchildren Abram Pena of Austin, TX. and Aaron Stephen, Jeremy Aiden, Gabriela Inez Alatorre-Nieraeth of Torrance, CA. and Joey, Sebastian and Juliette Pena-Rodriguez of El Paso, TX. She is also survived by nephews and nieces throughout the country. Visitation from 12 to 4 pm , Vigil with Memorial Service at 1 pm Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Sunset Funeral home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Interment will be private.
