Elvira Renteria Marquez age 78 was a Cursillista. Member of San Lorenzo Catholic Church for most of her life. She was born in Santa Paula, California. She was active at San Lorenzo Catholic Church. She was a catechism teacher for 25 years preparing the children to make their First Holy Communion. She was also a lecture for 31 years, belonged to the Altar Society and was a music coordinator. She loved to prepare the altar for Father Beto Lopez on Wednesdays for the adoration of the blessed sacrament. She also worked for the Clint Independent School District for 16 years. There, she was a cafeteria and playground monitor. She was also a cross guard. She loved to work with children. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Aureliano Marquez (Eddie) and one daughter Vera Ann Borja of Round Rock, Texas (Curtis), two sons, Randy Marquez of El Paso (Gracie) and Tony Marquez of Round Rock, Texas (Gloria). She always had a sweet smile for everybody even though sometimes she didn't even know the person. She was always full of love!
She also leaves behind 4 brothers, Daniel, Eduardo, Freddy, and Larry. Also 3 sisters Sara, Lily, and Nina. A visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a visitation at San Lorenzo Catholic Church from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary/vigil at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:45 a.m. at San Lorenzo Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
