Elizabeth Hines Byers, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July, 31st, 2008. Preceded in death by her husband, Bill Byers and son, Walter Byers, brothers Philip Hines, John Edward Hines, sisters Cynthia Dillon, and Janet Price and grandson, Chris Turner. Elizabeth is survived by her brother Stanley Hines of Alamogordo and her children John Byers, Jr of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Janet Reinhart of Austin, Bruce Byers and Gary Byers of El Paso, Beverly Sanchez of Houston, Carol Byers of Albuquerque, David Byers of Austin, Susan Haynes of Cleveland, Ohio, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas College of Mines before marrying her college sweetheart Bill Byers. She was a devoted and loving wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elizabeth was also a talented and respected artist and teacher. After raising her family, she volunteered as a docent at El Paso Museum of Art and began to follow her passion for drawing and painting. She was a charter member of the Rio Bravo Watercolor Society and also a member of El Paso Art Association. She loved her family and will be greatly missed. The members of Elizabeth’s family wish to extend their deepest appreciation to all who cared for her at White Acres. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to West Texas Food Bank. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Peace with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2008 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes West.
