Elisa A. Flores “Licha” 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 9th, 2009 at her home and was surrounded by all her loving family as she gently surrendered her soul to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on November 28, 1927 in Torreon, Mexico to Maria & Ladislado Alvarez. She was preceded in death by her husband Celso Flores. Survived by 6 sons: Rudolfo (Sylvia), Victor (Juana), David (Cindy), Humberto (Susie), Ismael ( Imelda), Celso Jr (Cleo), and by her 2 daughters: Elsa Reyes (Richard) and Mary Lopez (Juan). She was a proud grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Esperanza Alvarez de Sanchez and many devoted nieces and nephews. Her life was filled with love, honor, integrity, within a united family like no other. She was a devoted Catholic and unselfishly dedicated her life to her family. She instilled her strong spiritual beliefs and family values of God first, Family second and all other third. She took great pride in the accomplishments of all her children & grandchildren as each completed their careers, education & public service, as she herself, at the young age of 55 earned her G.E.D. certificate to model the importance of education. Before her retirement she worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital & Ysleta I.S.D. Her 10 grandsons: Ricardo Reyes Jr, Victor & Benjamin Flores, Nick & Adrian Alvarez, Paul & Mark Flores, Daniel Flores and Adrian & Giovanni Flores will serve with love & honor as their grandmothers pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Ricky Partida, Mario Rodriguez, Juan Lopez and Richard Reyes. The family is deeply grateful to Dr. Tai Lam, MD who cared for our mother with compassion and devotion during her illness. Services will be from 4-9 pm Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina, with a Vigil beginning at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home -East.
