Eleanor M (Ellie) O’Connor (85) peacefully passed away on October 2, 2009. Born in Oakland California and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ellie grew up in Woodacre, California. She proudly served her country in the Navy Waves during WWII as a Yeoman 1st Class. Ellie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Eleanor and Loyal Peacock and her brother Robert Peacock. The great love of her life was her caring husband of over 50 yrs. Terry O'Connor, who passed away in 1997. Ellie and Terry moved to El Paso in 1963, when he was transferred by Falstaff Brewing Company from Sacramento CA. Ellie owned and operated “Sun & Fun Casuals” on Shadow Mountain Dr., a woman’s wear store, and with Terry helped own and operate a local beer distributorship. After retirement they lived for a number of years in Santa Teresa N.M. She is survived by her two sons, Terry O'Connor Jr. of El Paso and Kelly O’Connor of San Antonio. Her grandchildren were a special joy and include: Huston (San Antonio, TX) and Kelsey (Denver, CO), children of Terry O’Connor and Judy Phelan O’Connor. Sean and spouse Marcella (San Antonio, TX), Casey (Seattle, WA) and Brian (San Antonio, TX), children of Kelly O’Connor and wife, Jenny Manning O’Connor and one great-granddaughter, Faith Kelly. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Celoni of Rohnert Park, CA. Ellie was active in the El Paso volunteer and arts community for many years and had a special relationship with a number of close friends who’s fellowship and friendship will be sorely missed. Thanks to the staff at Regency Assisted Living on Bartlett for their love and friendship and also her wonderful doctors and other caregivers. The family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to your favorite charity in Ellie’s memory. Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 16, 2009 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Westside Shelter. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
