Elaine Marie McHann, at age 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 surrounded by her adoring granddaughters. Elaine was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 26th, 1931. She was the younger of two daughters. Her older sister, Loralee, was her best friend. Her mother and grandmother, whom she both dearly loved, called her “Lainie”. Elaine married her eternal companion and love of her life, John, a proud WWII U.S. Marine Corp veteran, in 1949. They were happily married 2 months shy of 68 years when he passed in 2017. Together, they had a blessed life with two sons. Elaine and John shared many adventures, including living several years overseas in the countries of Jordan and Iran. Elaine had a deep, abiding faith and was an active member of her church community. Elaine blessed many peoples’ lives. She loved animals, caring for many pets over her lifetime, and also feeding and rescuing stray animals. Elaine was a gifted artist, who left behind numerous cherished works of art. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gwendolyn Olsen; her husband, John Quitman McHann II; and her son, John Quitman McHann III. She is survived by her son, Carl Daniel McHann; her late son’s wife, Martha McHann; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Sara, Alicia, John, James, William, Matthew and Jacob; numerous great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Committal Service to follow at 11:00am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
