Edwina Craig

April 3, 1923 — June 25, 2012

Edwina Craig, 89, of El Paso died Monday June 25, 2012 after a courageous battle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Cantrell Craig. Survivors include her niece, Martha Nelson of Jacksonville, Fl and nephew, Ralph Dean, of Broken Bow, OK. She was a loving wife, aunt and friend. She was a member of the Women’s Land Army in England during WWII. Edwina moved to St. Louis, MO in 1948 and worked as a country music DJ at a local radio station. She sang with “Little Jimmie Dickens” on a few occasions. Edwina and her husband moved to El Paso, TX in 1957. She managed the local bowling alley on the west side and also bowled on a team for many years. Edwina loved to work in the garden and yard. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. Each year she donated knitted caps, sweaters, blankets and afghans to the “Children Crisis Center”. Edwina kissed “The Blarney Stone”. Edwina will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 29, 2012 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
